The budgeted multi-year outlook for the period 2011-2014 shows that the lately introduced crisis taxes will not be valid only till the end of 2012 as it was announced by the government, but they are planning to proceed in 2013 and 2014.

The outlook which has been published on the website of the Hungarian Parliament  shows that the plan for crisis taxes levied on banks, hypermarkets, telecom companies and the energy sector expects revenue of about 200 billion HUF per year in 2013 and 2014.

The spreadsheet shows that special tax on financial institutions in 2011 is planned in an amount of 187 billion however in 2012 would not disappear completely as it was stated before, but would only be halved the next three years.

The situation is similar to the recently adopted crisis taxes which is planned to earn a revenue of more than 160 billion HUF in 2011, which in 2013-14 would proceed to produce about 85 billion HUF to the budget.

The energy tax has already entered into force with some 20 billion HUF annual revenue source which would probably remain in force till 2014 with a slightly increasing budgeted amounts.

Peter Szíjjártó, government spokesman, said that the current crisis taxes will be abolished, but other new rules are planned, which will continue to result in revenue from the particular sectors.

Upon the news, the stock market started to decline, which reflects the shareholders’ dismay and uncertainty regarding the economic recovery.
