The Government has already given its approval for the changes in women’s pension regulations, which is now waiting for the approval of the Parliament.
According to the new rules, women with at least 40 years of service may retire independently on age. The rule will enter into force from 2011.
A small change in length of service compared to the existing rules is worth to mention: the time spent on maternity leave is still included in the calculation, however the time spent for training in faculties or higher education (college, university, etc.) cannot be included in the service time. According to the existing legislation, the time of higher education can be counted for the service time, it is currently excluded from the calculation scheme.
This additional expenditure in pension budget will be covered by a 0.5% increase in the pension contribution rate which would enter into force from 2011.
